DisasterManagement is a mobile communication platform that supports bi-directional
broadcasting and data collection. The platform will be used in India for
disaster monitoring and in Vietnam for environment sensing. Unlike existing
mobile systems that are proprietary or custom-developed, NextMap creates a
general, open toolset that can be leveraged across various scenarios from
disaster management to environmental conservation in remote locations.
- 1:10 pm Moca: Mobile Care and Diagnostics (with Centers for E-Health and Tele-Medicine in Southeast Asia)

The Mobile Diagnostics team collaborates with Centers for E-Health and
Tele-Medicine in Southeast Asia and develops a mobile-linked web application
that will allow doctors to diagnose and recommend treatment for remote
patients remotely via images. The MoCa Dispatch Server, a plugin of OpenMRS,
is developed to handle the communication between mobile phone and OpenMRS
server.

The Boston Baby Blog is a joint venture with the Boston's Mayor's office aimed at supporting school readiness
in children between the ages of 0 to 5. The Boston Baby Blog will communicate with parents via SMS messaging to keep them informed and
involved in their child's health and development.
- 1:40 pm Giving Farmers a Fighting Chance (with ITESM Zacatecas, Mexico)

The Farmers team uses peer-to-peer mobile technologies (cell phones) -
easily adopted, understood, replicated, and maintained - in a rural area in
Zacatecas, Mexico. The project will enable farmers to communicate and
collaborate so that farmers, instead of middlemen, can determine fair prices
for their crops and ensure a marginally better economic.
- 1:55 pm Get New Money: Multilevel marketing for microfinance (with COBIS, Ecuador)

The project team introduces a multi-level-marketing scheme linked to a
network of mobile phones in Ecuador. Basically, in MLM, a borrower can act
as a "micro-agent" and search for other potential clients. Each micro-agent
receives commission based on the loans that are materialized through them,
as well as for those that happen through any other micro-agent they
recruited. Together with a new streamlined loan application process,
inviting commission scheme and solid infrastructure, the project is expected
to revolutionize the microfinance service in Ecuador.

M-commerce is a self-sustaining mobile commerce system in India. The system
empowers the poor and illiterate to make informed decisions about purchasing
daily necessities, and also enables "Bandhus" and villagers to browse and
order goods using mobile phones.

The Fellows Forum is a project that, partnered with the Telmex Foundation,
will connect fellows in Mexico to allow them to share their ideas and become
influenced by one another.
